What a cap costs: a worked example
Take two £50 bonuses, both 10x wagering (£500 to play through), on a slot with a 5,000x max win. During wagering you land a 400x hit at £1 a spin, and finish with a £430 balance.

Checklist before you take any deposit bonus
- Max cashout or max conversion? If there is one, divide it by the bonus. Under 5x is a tight cap.
- Wagering on bonus only, or deposit + bonus? 10x on bonus only is half the play of 10x on both for a 100% match.
- Max bet while wagering. Write it down. It is often £2–£5 and applies to every spin until the bonus is cleared or forfeited. Details.
- Game contribution. Slots usually 100%; roulette, blackjack and live games often 10% or 0%.
- Excluded games. Some high-RTP or high-volatility slots are excluded from bonus play entirely.
- Time limit. Unfinished wagering at the deadline forfeits the bonus and its winnings.
- Can you withdraw early? Withdrawing your deposit before wagering is done usually cancels the bonus. That is fine if you would rather keep your cash.
No max win is not "free money". At 96% RTP, wagering £500 costs £20 on average. A bonus raises your expected balance, but most individual sessions still end below the starting deposit. Set a deposit limit before you claim anything.
